NPTEL
Our College has obtained the Local Chapter for The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a project funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) jointly initiated by Indian Institute of Technology since November, 2015. The main objective of the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is to enhance the quality of education in our college by offering online courses for undergraduate and postgraduate curricula using video and web based courses. Our students and faculty members choose online courses either on their respective subjects or multidisciplinary field. Through this innovative approach, we establish or create an interdisciplinary approach for our student which is nowadays a vital in our competitive world. Moreover, our main aim is to enhance the way students learn concepts, to enhance the learning component and also to reduce the tedious and mechanical aspects of some of the current learning methods through the use of technology in a variety of forms. Dr. N. Vijayanand, Assistant Professor of Botany is in charge of the program. Faculty member from each department have been appointed as Department Mentors.
ABOUT THE COURSES:
As soon as the online courses are announced in the NPTEL website, NPTEL Local chapter of our college communicate to the students through circulars and display of brochures in the common notice board and library. Students choose their own desired course either in respective subject or multidisciplinary one. After selecting the course, students are registered and scholarship is availed to them. Depending upon the strength enrolled in each course, mentor is allotted to the students. Videos and text materials are downloaded and given to the students. Mentor takes classes for the students after regular academic hours daily. Mentor also monitors the students to take weekly assignments. Before the commencement of the exam, preparatory exams are conducted to the students in order to facilitate them to take the main exam in commendable way.
