About the Department
The Department of Tamil was established during the year 1965 for coaching TTamil as one of the languages for undergraduate students. During the year in 1971, B.A.Tamil literature was started as a separate graduate subject. In 1973 students from other countries like Malaysia had come to our college to learn Tamil. We had a special simplified Tamil curriculum for overseas students. Later, new scientific inventions and its industrial applications and emerging corporate sectors wooed more students towards Science and corporate courses.Eventually, the admission for B.A. Tamil Literature has drastically came down and ended in removal as a separate graduate course during the year 1988 – 1989. Henceforth, we have Tamil as one of the language subjects for undergraduate courses.
