DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

The College was granted affiliation to start B.Sc. Chemistry in 1966-67 with the build up area of 432.08 Sq.m.. The department offers B.Sc. Chemistry. The sanctioned strength of B.Sc.Chemistry is 40. The allotted staff members to the department are six teaching and three non-teaching. All the Teaching staffs are having Ph.D.as their highest degree and two of them are having guideship from Alagappa university. One staff member is guiding a Ph.D. student. One staff member is having a patent in Bio-Diesel and finished one minor research project. The freshers are given bridge course so that they can understand the mode of education in college, facilities in the college scope of the course etc.. The laboratory is fully equipped and give hands on experience to the students of which they studied as theory in the classes. we organize invited lectures periodically. The prominent alumni were invited to address the students so that the students may be motivated. We organize seminars periodically with eminent persons in our area. The students were supported to enhance the learning by remedial course. The staff members enrich their knowledge ay attending seminars, workshops refresher courses and orientation Courses. The staff members are publishing research articles in peer reviewed journals in collaboration with other institute staff members.
